Round 1 of the EMDG program:

  • opened on 16 August 2021
  • closed on 30 November 2021.

There were 5,384 applications submitted.

Figures on this page reflect the breakdown of applications at the time Round 1 closed.

Applications by state and territory

  • 66 in the Australian Capital Territory (1.2%)
  • 2,154 in New South Wales (40%)
  • 8 in the Northern Territory (0.1%)
  • 875 in Queensland (16.3%)
  • 310 in South Australia (5.8%)
  • 41 in Tasmania (0.8%)
  • 1,505 in Victoria (28.0%)
  • 425 in Western Australia (7.8%)

Applicants by type

  • 4,020 (74.7%) applications were lodged by agents.
  • 1,364 (25.3%) were self-lodged by applicants.

Applications by tier breakdown

5,253 applications were approved as eligible for a grant agreement:

  • 890 for Tier 1 (16%)
  • 2,040 for Tier 2 (39%)
  • 2,243 for Tier 3 (43%)
  • 80 for representative bodies (2%)

New and returning applicants

  • 2,662 applicants were new to EMDG at the time of applying in Round 1.
  • 2,722 were returning applicants who previously received a grant under the EMDG Reimbursement Scheme.

Agents' applications

247 agents submitted applications, 36 were agents new to EMDG. Of the 247 agents:

  • 50 submitted one application (20%)
  • 103 submitted between 2 to 9 applications (42%)
  • 43 submitted between 10 to 19 applications (17%)
  • 29 submitted 20 to 49 applications (12%)
  • 15 submitted 50 to 99 applications (6%)
  • 7 submitted 100 or more applications (3%).

Out of the 5,386 submitted applications, 5,032 grant agreements were executed. This represents a 93% success rate. Figures are as at 31 December 2023.
