Australia-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (A-HKFTA)

The A-HKFTA provides Australian businesses with greater certainty for trade and investment activities in Hong Kong.

The Australia-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (A-HKFTA) entered into force on 17 January 2020.

This agreement launched a new chapter in economic relations between Australia and Hong Kong.

The trade agreement:

  • gives Australian businesses greater certainty to trade and investment activities in Hong Kong
  • reaffirms the value Australia places on the high degree of autonomy enjoyed by Hong Kong through the “One Country, Two Systems” framework.
