Vivien was appointed Trade and Investment Commissioner, and Counsellor (Commercial) at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo in 2021. Vivien’s current remit spans across sectors such as advanced technology, research and development, the start-up economy, future cities, defence, space, and financial services.
Vivien joined Austrade in 2003 and has held a number of roles within the organisation. This includes offshore assignments in Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea. Before taking up her appointment in Tokyo, Vivien was the Head of the Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space sectors team, and in 2017 was the Assistant General Manager of the Trade division where she had strategic oversight of four Industry sectors – Advanced Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Resources and Energy, and Services & Technology.
Prior to joining Austrade, Vivien held roles in the banking, aviation and information technology sectors in Singapore, Myanmar and Australia.
Vivien holds a Masters of Business Degree, with majors in marketing from the University of Technology Sydney. She was also a finalist at the Women in Defence Award 2019 which recognised her contribution made to Australia’s Defence Export Strategy.
