Paul is Austrade's Trade and Investment Commissioner (Investment Deal Team) representative at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. The Jakarta Investment Deal Team is an initiative under Invested: Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

The Deal team works with the Indonesian government and businesses to identify potential investment opportunities and support Australian institutional and corporate investors assess and pursue these opportunities.

The Deal Team is a unique Australian Government initiative. Austrade, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Export Finance Australia jointly administer the Deal Team. It brings together commercial, policy, and finance specialisation to identify and make possible higher rates of Australian investment flows to Indonesia.

Before this position, Paul led Austrade's Mainland China Investment Team from 2019-2023, and Austrade's Greater China Health Team in 2023. Paul has also worked for the North Asia and Investment section of Austrade in Canberra, the Landing Pad team in Melbourne, and Tourism Programs for the Approved Destination Status scheme.

Paul joined Austrade in 2017 from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development where he worked on aviation security policy in the Office of Transport Security.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Tourism from La Trobe University in Melbourne. He also has a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Canberra, and a Master of Enterprise Management from Renmin University of China.
