Patrick Hanlon

Patrick is an experienced international leader, who has led diverse teams in Australia, Europe, Israel, South Africa, the United States and China. He is currently the a/g Consul General in Milan and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for Italy, the Czech Republic, Southeast Europe and Israel.

Normally, Patrick is the Chief Security Officer for Austrade, where he is responsible for the property, security, procurement, business continuity and crisis management. Prior to his return to Australia in 2019, Patrick was the Trade and Investment Commissioner based in Houston where he led the Americas resources and energy regional investment team and before that he was Trade Commissioner for Southern Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Before joining Austrade, Patrick was a senior adviser to the Australian Minister for Trade, where he worked with Australian businesses seeking to enter new markets. He has also held positions with the Motor Trades Association of Australia and the Australia Automotive Dealers Association.

Patrick is a graduate of Bond University with a Bachelor of International Relations and has lived and worked in the United States, Italy, South Africa, China, and Norway.
