Mounir is Deputy Consul-General and Trade and Investment Commissioner for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), based in Dubai. He supports Australian businesses in markets across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. He also manages infrastructure, technology, healthcare, mining, and Net Zero initiatives.

Mounir was the Consul and Trade Commissioner UAE and Counsellor and Trade Commissioner Iran. As Deputy Commissioner General Expo 2020 Dubai, he delivered Australia's business program for the Australian Pavilion. This resulted in over AUD280 million in business outcomes.

Mounir has several years of experience in private and government sectors in the MEA region. He has had oversight of sectors including defence industry, and critical infrastructure. Before joining Austrade, Mounir was the head of international business for an infrastructure consultancy. He also worked in international private law and as a client manager for the Queensland Government in the Middle East. He is passionate about achieving results for Australian companies. He also seeks to advance trade and investment between Australia and the region.

Mounir holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Macquarie University. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics and International Business from the University of Queensland. He speaks French, Arabic, Spanish and is proficient in Farsi.
