Leo is a Trade and Investment Commissioner for the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) in South Asia. He is based in New Delhi.
Leo leads the Australian Government’s 4-year Australia-India Future Skills Initiative. This is a flagship program to support India’s workforce and skills development through partnerships with Australian vocational education, training and skills providers. Leo is also Austrade South Asia’s Diversity and Inclusion Champion and enjoys supporting and celebrating diversity in such a dynamic and fast growing region.
Prior to his posting in India Leo supported Australian companies to grow their international business as an Austrade Global Engagement Manager. Leo provided advice and support to businesses across several industry sectors, including digital technologies, automotive, defence and fintech. Leo also led Australian Government trade delegations to Japan, South Korea and Singapore.
Leo also held roles in Austrade’s Government and Policy Division, and supported whole-of-government initiatives to increase the supply and competitiveness of Australia’s tourism industry.
Leo joined Austrade in 2017 from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, where he worked in aviation trade policy and as a Risk Analyst in the Office of Transport Security.
Leo has also lived and volunteered in Kenya to develop and lead capacity building and education programs.
Leo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese and International Relations (with Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Canberra. He is fluent in Japanese and Italian.
