Lauren Adams is Australia’s Trade and Investment Commissioner based in Jakarta from 2024. She was previously based in Surabaya, managing Austrade’s Surabaya office, with a focus on East and Central Java, and Sulawesi. Lauren also leads Australia’s commercial engagement in Advanced Technology and the Digital Economy in Indonesia.
Lauren has more than 15 years professional experience across international trade, business advisory and diplomacy. Prior to joining Austrade, Lauren was Regional Director for Southeast East at Asia Group Advisors, based in Jakarta. She has extensive experience supporting investors and multinational companies to successfully enter, and operate in, Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asia region, across a variety of sectors, including technology, payments and financial services, healthcare, energy, infrastructure and agriculture.
Lauren previously worked with DFAT in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. She started her career in Big4 consulting with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Ernst and Young.
She is an alumni of the ACICIS program and studied Economics and Bahasa Indonesia at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta in 2005. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Economics (International Business) and Bachelor of Arts (Indonesian). She is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia.
