Iannis commenced as Trade and Investment Commissioner in Beijing in June 2023. In this role, Iannis leads Austrade’s investment promotion and facilitation work across Mainland China. Iannis joined Austrade in 2017 from the private sector and started working with international investors in 2018. During COVID, Iannis led the International Freight Assistance Mechanism (IFAM) Taskforce’s Exports Team.
Iannis comes from a multicultural background. Born and raised in France, Iannis grew up speaking both French and Greek. His first visit to China was in 2005 where he studied at the China Foreign Affairs University. Iannis emigrated to Australia in 2007 and since then has also worked and studied in Cambodia and Japan.
Iannis holds a Master of Applied Commerce – International from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and a Master of Political Science with a major in finance from Science Po Strasbourg (France).
