Dane Richmond
Trade and Investment Commissioner, Seoul
Dane Richmond was appointed Trade and Investment Commissioner, and Counsellor (Commercial) at the Australian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea in 2024. Dane leads the Resources, Energy, Critical Minerals, Food, Beverage and Agribusiness teams at Austrade Seoul.
Dane joined the Tourism Division of Austrade from the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism. He has also worked for the Department of Finance and Deregulation. Before that, he worked for an Australian water tech start up in Shanghai.
Dane served as Trade and Investment Commissioner in Shanghai from 2017-2022.
Dane holds a bachelor degree in Asian Studies along with a master’s degree in Strategic and Defence Studies from the Australian National University (ANU). He has pursued further studies in technology leadership at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dane is a 2023 Asialink Leader and he speaks Mandarin and Korean.
