Abdul Ekram is the Trade and Investment Commissioner for South Asia, based in Chennai as post manager. Since joining Austrade in 2013, Abdul has worked in a number of industry teams, delivered high quality client services and led sector specific initiatives as a trade adviser. He managed the International Health team until 2020 and led number of successful global initiatives to promote Australian lifesciences capabilities, especially clinical trials.
Abdul has a strong understanding of and experience in commercialisation pathways for health and MedTech solutions, challenges and opportunities in cross border trade and investment in various industry sectors. Abdul has worked for number of public and private sector organisations involved in international trade and investment, including City of Melbourne’s strategic engagement with Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
Abdul migrated to Australia in 2000 as an international student and completed an MBA degree from Victoria University, Melbourne.
