Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA)

This agreement ensures greater access to the United States market for Australian products.

The United States is the economic powerhouse of the world, with the largest and richest consumer market.

The Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA) came into effect on 1 January 2005. It ensures greater access to the United States market for Australian products. The Agreement also:

  • enhances prospects for Australian services, trade and investment
  • improves the regulatory and investment environment between the 2 countries
  • promotes increased business mobility.
