Australian clinical trials data is accepted by global regulators, including the US Food and Drug Administration, and the European Medicines Agency.
Over 750 organisations support life science research development, commercialisation and manufacturing.
Exports include bionic devices, implants, nanotechnology and 3D-printed body parts.

Incentives, grants and support

Funding options are available to overseas companies that work with the clinical and life sciences sector in Australia.

The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) has a 10-year investment plan that commits A$6.3 billion to research. (Source: AusBiotech, Biotechnology Blueprint: A decadal strategy for the Australian Biotechnology Industry 2022 – 2032).
The Medical Research Commercialisation Initiative will commit more than A$450 million over 10 years to early stage health and medical research.
The National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) has earmarked A$1.5 billion for medical manufacturing through co-investment.
The Biomedical Translation Fund is a A$501 million co-investment program. It helps translate biomedical discoveries into products and services.
The Clinical Trials Activity initiative will provide A$750 million over 10 years to help Australian researchers take treatments through clinical trials.
